Residents of the Batken Region have raised the issue of compensation for homes following the demarcation of the border

Residents of the Batken Region have once again raised the issue of compensation for property and possessions affected by events along the border and the demarcation of the state border. These concerns were raised at a meeting with President Sadyr Zhaparov.

A representative from the village of Zhany-Dostuk stated that she was speaking on behalf of 73 families. According to her, residents had received compensation, but some of them still had questions regarding the amounts paid and the allocation of housing.

During the meeting, government representatives stated that the main compensation payments had already been made. Separate discussions were held regarding houses located on the border fence line and issues relating to the provision of housing.

Zhaparov instructed the relevant authorities to expedite the resolution of the remaining issues.

“We will not leave any of them without a home. We will definitely build new homes for those whose properties have been affected by the demarcation. We will provide other plots of land to replace the agricultural land that has been lost,” said the President.

One resident explained that his house had been demolished as a result of the demarcation work. Government representatives stated that funding for the construction had been allocated and that work was due to begin shortly. Zhaparov demanded that the process be expedited.

However, the total amount of compensation required, and the number of families who are still due to receive payment or be provided with housing, were not clearly specified at the meeting. To assess the scale of the expenditure, it is necessary to obtain up-to-date data from the government and clarify which commitments have already been fulfilled and which remain outstanding.
