$16.5 billion in investments and a new office in Tashkent: EDB sums up results and outlines expansion plans

Kazakhstan's Prime Minister Olzhas Bektanov chaired a meeting of the Eurasian Development Bank (EDB) Council, which discussed the results of work in 2024 and outlined new areas of activity. The bank not only exceeded its own investment plans, but also expanded its geographical reach.

The EDB's accumulated portfolio reached $16.5 billion, and the volume of new investments for the year grew by almost $700 million to $2.4 billion. Growth was particularly noticeable in projects related to sustainable development, which exceeded 30% of the total, twice the target. The technical assistance project portfolio also grew significantly, up 76% over the year.

A key event was the official accession of Uzbekistan to the EDB. A regional office will open in Tashkent in the near future, which will give impetus to new projects. In addition, at the proposal of the Council, Olzhas Bektanov was elected Chairman of the EDB, and Kazakhstan's Minister of Finance Madiy Takiyev became his deputy. The Bank is moving confidently towards its ambitious goal of becoming the main integration investor in Eurasia.
