02/21/2026, 14:51Bishkek, 21 February — Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Head of the Presidential Administration of the Kyrgyz Republic Adylbek Kasymaliyev took part in the Agrodialogue forum. In his speech, he highlighted the achievements in agriculture, focusing on the key indicators for the previous year.
The volume of agricultural production for this period amounted to 459.7 billion KGS, which is 62.9 billion KGS more than in 2024, with a growth rate of 102.2%. The processing industry produced goods worth 104.7 billion KGS, which is 16.2 billion KGS more than in the previous year, with a growth rate of 130.1%.
Positive results were achieved in the export of agricultural products, with more than 60 types of products exported to more than 80 countries around the world. The consumption of 6 out of 9 basic socially significant types of food for the population was also ensured.
The head of government noted that these achievements are the result of joint efforts by the authorities and business, and emphasised improved coordination in the areas of fuel, lending and other areas. The National Development Programme of the Kyrgyz Republic until 2030 identifies key areas, including a 30% increase in agricultural production, doubling the physical volume of processing, reducing water losses to 15%, expanding irrigated land by 15,000 hectares and increasing the level of water supply to land to 93,000 hectares.
Particular attention is paid to water resources: 12.3 billion KGS are planned to be invested in irrigation in 2026. Total investment in agriculture will amount to 41.1 billion KGS, which exceeds last year's funding (31.5 billion).
Adylbek Kasymaliyev emphasised the need to further develop the material base for seed production, livestock breeding and nurseries, as well as the active use of preferential credit programmes. He noted that by 2030, it is planned to increase the share of agricultural product processing to 25%, and by 2040 to 50%, from the current level of 7%. To achieve these goals, it is planned to create 385 processing enterprises, 75 of which will be operational by 2026, as well as to develop agricultural clusters and value chains.
As examples of successful strategies, the head of government cited the experience of the Netherlands, where tulip cultivation generates more than €1 billion in revenue, and Turkey, which exports dried apricots worth about $400 million a year. The Kyrgyz Republic has begun to enter the world market with dried apricots and should continue to promote its own products, including Kyrgyz apricots. The first step in this direction will be to expand sales of products on the domestic market, increase their value, promote them at a high level and shape a culture of consumption.
The Head of the Cabinet of Ministers also emphasised the importance of strengthening the role of science and education in agriculture and the country's economy as a whole. The Kyrgyz National Agrarian University and scientists are expected to actively develop innovative solutions for the sector. As part of the forum, an award ceremony was held for specialists from the Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture and Processing Industry.
