Aibek Junushaliyev discussed the draft master plan for Bishkek with developers

Bishkek Mayor Aibek Junushaliev met with Pavel Spiryn, Director of the Research Institute for Advanced Urban Development, and Irina Grishchikina, Head of the Capital's Master Plan Project.

The meeting was also attended by Deputy Mayor Azamat Kadyrov, Chief of Staff Ilyas Kolopov, Chief Architect of the City Meder Kydyrmayev and other representatives of the mayor's office.

According to Pavel Spirin, the institute's specialists have completed a comprehensive urban development analysis. As part of the work, more than 200 requests were sent to government agencies and research was conducted on the economy, the level of employment, land and property relations, the environmental situation, the transport network, the state of social infrastructure and other aspects of the city's development.

Among the key objectives of the 2050 Master Plan are strengthening Bishkek's position as the capital, forming a financial and logistics centre for Central Asia, diversifying the economy and ensuring economic security, developing a comfortable urban environment and a balanced transport system, and improving social well-being.

Aibek Junushaliyev asked clarifying questions about the materials presented and noted the need to complete work on the project promptly.

It should be noted that the document was developed by Institute for Advanced Urban Development, one of Russia's leading design and architectural institutes, established in 1992 on the basis of LenNIIPgradostroitelstvo and with more than 60 years of experience in the field of spatial planning. Over its history, the institute has prepared over 700 approved urban development projects at the federal and regional levels. Today, it is actively implementing digital methods of spatial analysis, enabling the formation of sustainable urban development strategies.

The Bishkek Master Plan project is being implemented in two stages. The main document required for approval is planned to be prepared by November 2025. The work is being supervised by the Department of Individual Housing Construction and Urban Planning of the capital's mayor's office.
