The assets of Kyrgyzstan’s insurers have reached nearly 15 billion KGS

At the end of the first half of 2026, the total assets of Kyrgyzstan’s insurance companies reached 14 billion 918.3 million KGS. Since the start of the year, they have increased by 1 billion 86 million KGS, or 7.9 per cent.

At the same time, insurers’ liabilities grew significantly faster than their assets. Over the six-month period, they increased by 1 billion 408.2 million KGS, or 19.5 per cent, reaching 8 billion 648 million KGS.

At the same time, the total equity of insurance organisations fell from 6 billion 578.5 million to 6 billion 270.2 million KGS. The decrease amounted to 308.3 million KGS, or 4.7 per cent.

As a result, the proportion of equity capital in the market’s assets fell from 47.6 per cent at the end of 2025 to 42 per cent on 1 July 2026. The proportion of liabilities, by contrast, rose from 52.3 per cent to 58 per cent.

The volume of insurance reserves set aside during the half-year increased by 357.6 million KGS, or 8.7 per cent, from 4 billion 107.1 million KGS to 4 billion 464.7 million KGS. These funds are intended to meet obligations under existing insurance and reinsurance contracts.

Over a longer period, the insurance market’s assets continue to grow. Compared with 2023, they have more than doubled — from 6 billion 824.5 million KGS to 14 billion 918.3 million KGS. Liabilities for the same period have increased almost fivefold.

As at 1 July 2026, there were 20 insurance and reinsurance organisations operating in Kyrgyzstan. Of these, 14 companies – representing 70 per cent of the market in terms of the number of participants – are wholly owned by Kyrgyz residents.

A further six companies have non-residents holding a stake in their capital. This list includes ‘Alma Insurance’, ‘Arsenal-Kyrgyzstan’, ‘ATN Policy’, ‘Jubili Insurance’, ‘Quantum Insurance’ and ‘Tayan Insurance’.
