Almazbek Atambayev stripped of Kyrgyzstan's state awards

The President of the Kyrgyz Republic, Sadyr Zhaparov, signed a decree according to which, in accordance with the verdict of the Pervomaisky District Court of Bishkek dated 3 June 2025, in accordance with parts 1, 2, 4 of Article 27 of the Law of the Kyrgyz Republic ‘On State Awards, Honorary Titles and State Prizes of the Kyrgyz Republic,’ Article 71 of the Constitution of the Kyrgyz Republic, it is hereby decreed:

1. To strip Atambayev Almazbek Sharshenovich of the following state awards of the Kyrgyz Republic:

  1. the highest degree of distinction of the Kyrgyz Republic ‘Kyrgyz Respublikasyn Baatyry’;
  2. the Order of Manas, 2nd degree;
  3. the Order of Danaker;
  4. the Dank medal.

2. To annul:

  1. Decree of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic ‘On awarding the Dank Medal to Atambayev A.Sh.’ dated 22 April 1999 No. 106;
  2. Decree of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic ‘On awarding the Order “Danaker” to Atambayev A.Sh.’ dated 27 November 2007 No. 518;
  3. Paragraph three of the Decree of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic "On awarding state awards to state and public figures
  4. of the Republic‘ dated 30 November 2011 No. 311;
  5. Decree of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic ’On awarding the highest degree of distinction ‘Kyrgyz Respublikasynyn Baatyry’ to A.Sh. Atambayev" dated 27 November 2017 No. 1.

3. The Judicial Enforcement Service under the General Prosecutor's Office of the Kyrgyz Republic shall, in accordance with the established procedure, take measures to seize the state awards of the Kyrgyz Republic and the documents related to them, specified in paragraph 1 of this Decree, for subsequent transfer to the state awards fund.

4. This Decree shall enter into force on the day of its signing.
