02/25/2026, 09:41On 24 February, Bishkek Mayor Aibek Junushaliyev conducted an on-site inspection of the capital's infrastructure facilities. The key focus was on synchronising road construction and utility network installation, as well as tightening control over contractors.
The first site was the area around the Bishkek Arena stadium, which is currently under construction. The mayor instructed that preparations for the construction and reconstruction of access roads should begin simultaneously with the installation of utilities. The Leninsky District Administration, the Department of Transport, MP Bishkekasfalt Service and MP Bishkekvodokanal were instructed to ensure that the work was carried out in parallel to avoid repeated roadworks.
In the Oktyabrsky District, the mayor discussed with residents the construction of a section of Akhunbaev Street from Auezov Street to the Eastern Bypass Road. The contractor was reprimanded for changing the design decisions twice without proper coordination. According to Junushaliev, any adjustments must follow the established procedure and be agreed with the customer before implementation.
The contractor, together with the State Agency ‘Unaa’ and the Bishkek Department of Urban Development and Architecture, has been instructed to prepare an updated project as soon as possible.
In the Sverdlovsk district, residents of Abdykadyrova, Kirpichnaya, Drevesnaya, Torfyanaya and Suvorova streets raised issues of water supply, sewerage and road conditions. The mayor said that in 2026, it is planned to lay water and sewerage networks, followed by road works. The sequence ‘first communications, then pavement’ is designated as mandatory.
Additionally, a commission has been instructed to improve the area near the river. Together with the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Kyrgyzstan, it is planned to work on fire safety issues, including the organisation of fire access and cleaning of the riverbed. MP Bishkekzelenstroy will conduct a survey of green spaces, the municipal inspectorate will strengthen control over illegal logging and waste storage, and the Department of Transport will consider the possibility of building an embankment bridge across the river.
Following the inspection, the mayor instructed to ensure systematic coordination of services and compliance with project implementation deadlines.
