05/14/2026, 17:12In Kyrgyzstan, an agreement has been reached to curb sharp increases in airfares in the final hours before departure. This was announced by Maksatbek Mamaev, Commercial Director of OJSC ‘Airports of Kyrgyzstan’, during a discussion with passengers at MTravel Day.
According to him, the issue was raised in consultation with the antitrust authorities and airlines.
“We have agreed that there will be no such sharp price hikes in the final hours or days. There will be a cap. Up to 6,000”, — said Mamaev.
The issue was raised by passengers who complained about the cost of tickets on the Bishkek–Osh route. In response, the airport representative noted that the price largely depends on the date of purchase and demand.
He also emphasised that the Bishkek–Osh route remains one of the busiest in the country. According to him, the number of flights between the cities can reach 12 a day.
