Timber transportation vehicles in Russia are required to be equipped with control systems

On January 1, 2025, changes in Russian forestry legislation will come into force. All vehicles transporting timber across the country are required to be equipped with satellite navigation equipment of the GAIS system (ERA-GLONASS). These requirements apply to both Russian and foreign vehicles.

The changes are aimed at improving control over timber transportation to increase transparency and compliance with environmental regulations.

Kyrgyz companies involved in timber transportation to Russia need to take into account these changes and provide their vehicles with appropriate navigation equipment to avoid fines and sanctions.
