Bakyt Torobaev met with IMF representative in Bishkek

Deputy Prime Minister of the Kyrgyz Republic, Minister of Water Resources, Agriculture and Processing Industry Bakyt Torobaev met with IMF Permanent Representative in Bishkek Farid Talishly.

During the meeting, issues of cooperation between the Kyrgyz Republic and the International Monetary Fund were discussed. The significant role of the IMF in promoting structural reforms in the country and in the development of the national economy was noted, and prospects for further bilateral cooperation were considered.

The large-scale structural reforms implemented in recent years have been highly praised by international rating agencies. These reforms are aimed at stabilising business activity, supporting strategic industries, modernising infrastructure and improving the investment climate.

Over more than 30 years, the IMF has implemented 12 programmes in the Kyrgyz Republic, which have played an important role in supporting the economy, reducing poverty, and promoting sustainable and inclusive economic growth.

It should be noted that, on average, the country's economic growth rate has been 9% over the past three years. High economic activity is based on effective government measures aimed at modernising the economy, improving the investment climate and competitive environment, and implementing reforms in the public administration system.
