Banks purchased $12.8 million at foreign exchange auctions — demand fell by 35 per cent

At the interbank foreign exchange auction on 17 August, banks purchased $12.8 million. Compared with the previous auction, the volume of transactions fell by $6.9 million, or 35 per cent.

Of the total amount, $7.9 million was accounted for by same-day settlement transactions, whilst a further $4.9 million was accounted for by transactions with settlement on a different date.

At the previous trading session, held on 14 August, the total volume of transactions reached $19.7 million. Of this, $10.4 million comprised transactions settled on the day the deal was concluded, whilst $9.3 million comprised transactions settled on a different date.

The US dollar exchange rate remained unchanged; on both 14 and 17 August, trading opened and closed at 87.45 KGS per dollar.
