08/18/2026, 09:54In May, individuals transferred $35.7 million from Kyrgyzstan abroad. This is $15.9 million, or 80.3 per cent, more than in April, according to data from the National Bank.
The May figure was the highest since August 2025, when $45.3 million was sent out of the country. In the first five months of 2026, the total outflow of cross-border remittances amounted to $115.1 million.
The bulk of the funds in May was sent to CIS countries – $33.5 million. Almost 89 per cent of the total outflow went to Russia, where individuals transferred $31.8 million. $1 million was sent to Kazakhstan, and $700,000 to other CIS countries.
$2.2 million was transferred to countries outside the CIS. In particular, $1.3 million was sent to Turkey and $800,000 to the USA.
At the same time, the inflow of remittances into Kyrgyzstan also increased. In May, it reached $287.9 million, compared with $259.8 million in April. Thus, even taking into account the increase in outflows, far more money is sent to Kyrgyzstan than leaves the country. As a result, after deducting outflows, $252.2 million remained in the country in May.
