Petrol worth more than 3.6 million KGS was smuggled

The State Tax Service has uncovered instances of the transport and sale of fuel and lubricants without molecular marking. The total volume of fuel discovered amounted to more than 64,000 litres.

According to the agency, in the Sokuluk district of the Chui region, State Tax Service officers stopped a vehicle transporting petrol without fuel marking. The cargo amounted to 60,508 litres. Its market value is preliminarily estimated at over 3.6 million KGS.

Another case was uncovered at a petrol station in the Nooken district of the Jalal-Abad region. There, AI-92 petrol was being sold without the mandatory molecular markers. The volume of fuel amounted to 3.5 tonnes.

The violations were identified using a specialised analyser that detects the presence of molecular markers in the fuel. The results of the inspection were also confirmed by laboratory tests carried out at Uchkun OJSC.

Based on the findings, State Tax Service officials drew up the relevant reports and forwarded the case files to the law enforcement authorities for legal assessment.

Since 1 October 2024, the mandatory marking of petrol and diesel fuel with molecular markers has been in force in Kyrgyzstan. The requirement applies to both imported and domestically produced fuel. The import, transport, storage and sale of fuel are prohibited without such marking.
