Bishkek–Balykchy: An eight-car premium-class train has begun service

Today, June 5, passenger train No. 608/609 on the Bishkek–Balykchy Beach–Bishkek route resumed service for the summer tourist season.

The train departed from the Bishkek-2 railway station at 8:06 a.m. and arrived in Balykchy at 12:37 p.m., delivering passengers to the shores of Lake Issyk-Kul.

To mark the opening of the season, the state-owned enterprise “Kyrgyz Temir Zholu” organized a festive atmosphere for passengers at the Bishkek-2 railway station before the train’s departure. The Balykchy City Hall also organized a ceremonial welcome for the train’s passengers.

More good news: the Bishkek–Balykchy train now includes two additional modernized, premium-class cars. Thus, today’s train consists of 14 cars, six of which are standard intercity cars and eight are premium-class cars. Depending on the increase in passenger traffic, additional intercity cars will be added.

Schedule for the Bishkek–Balykchy passenger train:

  • From June 5 to June 21, it runs on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays;
  • From June 26 to September 13, it runs daily.

The Bishkek–Balykchy passenger train will continue to provide convenient, safe, and affordable transportation for passengers traveling to the Issyk-Kul coast, as well as for international visitors.
