Bishkek prepares for early elections to the Jogorku Kenesh

A meeting of the city headquarters for the preparation and conduct of early elections to the Jogorku Kenesh, scheduled for November 30 this year, was held in the capital. The event was chaired by Bishkek Mayor Aibek Junushaliyev.

The meeting was attended by the chairman of the Bishkek Territorial Commission, Zhaynak Ibragimov, deputy mayors, district akims, heads of city services and educational institutions, as well as representatives of law enforcement agencies.

The mayor of the capital emphasized the importance of the president's appeal that the elections should be conducted transparently and strictly within the framework of the law. In this regard, he instructed the heads of educational institutions not to prevent teachers from participating in the work of election commissions and to provide them with assistance. Law enforcement agencies were instructed to ensure public order, and district akims were instructed to organize explanatory work among the population to increase voter turnout and to assist in resolving organizational and technical issues.

The city headquarters was established on October 1. On the same day, an action plan was approved and the boundaries of the electoral districts were defined. There will be four of them in Bishkek:

  • No. 21 — Leninsky District (60 PEC);
  • No. 22 — Oktyabrsky District (60 PEC);
  • No. 23 — Pervomaisky District (55 PEC);
  • No. 24 — Sverdlovsky District (60 PEC).

A total of 235 precinct election commissions have been approved.
