Bishkek residents are increasingly eating out: restaurants earned almost 15 billion KGS

In January–July, restaurants, cafés and bars in Bishkek provided services worth 14.6 billion KGS. Compared to last year, this represents a 28.2% increase. These figures were provided by the National Statistical Committee.

Restaurants, cafes and bars account for 84.5% of the total volume of services provided by the capital's hotel and restaurant sector, which reached 17.26 billion KGS. This is 31.3% more than in the same period last year. In fact, more than four out of every five soms spent in the capital's hotel and restaurant sector went on food and entertainment.

Hotels and other short-term accommodation facilities provided services worth 2.67 billion KGS (or 15.5% of the total) during the same period.

Growth was recorded in all districts of the city. The highest growth rate was in the Oktyabrsky district, where the volume of services increased by almost 58.7% to 3.63 billion KGS. In the Leninsky district, growth amounted to 50.1% (2.7 billion KGS), and in the Sverdlovsky district, 40.8% (3.6 billion KGS).

Despite more modest growth rates (12.5%), the Pervomaisky district shows the highest volumes, more than 7.3 billion KGS.
