Businesses in Kyrgyzstan will be given three times as much time to pay additional taxes

The Jogorku Kenesh approved amendments to tax legislation that extend the deadline for voluntary compliance with tax authorities’ decisions following audits. Entrepreneurs will now have 90 calendar days—rather than 30—to pay additional taxes, late payment penalties, and tax sanctions.

The changes were incorporated into the law “On Amending Certain Legislative Acts of the Kyrgyz Republic in the Sphere of Taxation and Non-Tax Revenues,” adopted by deputies on June 25 as part of the implementation of the presidential decree on improving the taxation system and tax administration.

Until now, after the completion of a tax audit, businesses were given one month to voluntarily comply with the tax authority’s decision. The amendments extend this period threefold—to 90 days.

This change is expected to reduce the financial burden on entrepreneurs, who, following audits, are required to make lump-sum payments of significant amounts in additional tax assessments, late payment penalties, and fines. The additional time will allow companies to meet their tax obligations without having to urgently withdraw working capital or seek debt financing.

The amendment is part of a package of tax changes approved by the Jogorku Kenesh.
