Most farmers live in the Osh region

As of 1 January 2024, there were more than 476,000 active economic entities registered in Kyrgyzstan in the field of agriculture, forestry and fisheries. The sector continues to be dominated by peasant farms, which number 358,600, or 75.3% of the total.

Another 116,400 entities, or 24.4%, are individual entrepreneurs engaged in agricultural production. Thus, the republic's agricultural economy remains highly decentralised and focused on small-scale farming.

The largest number of agricultural entities is concentrated in the Osh region — 138,000 units. This is followed by the Jalal-Abad region with 107,200 and the Chui region with 69,400 farms.
