09/01/2025, 14:45Today, September 1, Kyrgyz President Sadyr Zhaparov took part in a meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) in Tianjin as part of his working trip to the People's Republic of China.
Following the summit, a number of key documents were signed, among which the decision to declare the city of Cholpon-Ata the tourist and cultural capital of the SCO for 2025-2026 is of particular importance for Kyrgyzstan.
This status will allow Cholpon-Ata to become a venue for international cultural and tourist events, as well as to increase interest in the region from the member countries of the organization.
In addition, the leaders of the SCO member states adopted the Tianjin Declaration, approved the organization's development strategy until 2035, a program to counter extremist ideology for 2026–2030, a roadmap for energy cooperation, and a number of agreements in the fields of security, economics, science, and innovation.
The summit's decisions also include granting Laos the status of dialogue partner, granting the SCO observer status with the CIS, and signing agreements on the Anti-Drug Center and the Center for Countering Security Challenges and Threats.
Joint statements were adopted on the digital economy, green industry, energy development, artificial intelligence, international trade, and scientific and technical cooperation.
