09/01/2026, 15:322G remains the most widespread mobile communications standard in Kyrgyzstan — the network covers 99.4 per cent of the country’s settlements. However, even basic connectivity for calls and text messages is not available everywhere. Thirteen settlements still have no mobile network coverage.
According to figures from the end of the first quarter of 2026, there were 2,236 settlements in Kyrgyzstan. Of these, 2,223 were covered by the 2G network.
Despite the rapid development of high-speed mobile internet, 4G coverage was slightly lower – 2,219 settlements, or 99.2 per cent. The 3G network is available in 2,196 settlements, which corresponds to 98.2 per cent.
Thus, 2G covers four more settlements than 4G, and 27 more than 3G. This shows that the most widely available mobile infrastructure in the country remains the second-generation network, designed primarily for voice calls and messaging rather than modern high-speed internet.
At the same time, 13 settlements – or 0.58 per cent of the total – have no mobile coverage at all.
More than half of these settlements are located in the Issyk-Kul Region. There, seven out of 212 settlements remain without coverage. The 2G network covers 205 settlements in the region, 4G covers 203, and 3G covers 194.
In the Jalal-Abad Region, there is no mobile coverage in three settlements; in the Osh Region, in two; and in the Naryn Region, in one.
In the Chui and Talas Regions, all settlements are covered by 2G, 3G and 4G networks. In the Batken region, the basic 2G network is available in all 256 settlements; however, 4G does not yet cover one settlement, whilst 3G does not cover five.
The number of settlements in this calculation is based on the National Statistics Committee’s system of designations for administrative-territorial and territorial units, as well as on enquiries from citizens and members of parliament.
