The dollar rose from 87.4435 KGS to 87.45 KGS. This represents an increase of 0.0065 KGS, or +0.0074%.
Despite the modest nominal change, the dollar started the year with a strengthening, which cannot be said about the ruble, whose exchange rate fell from 1.1016 KGS to 1.0885 KGS.
The weakening amounted to 0.0131 KGS, or -1.19%, which is quite sharp, considering that only 12 days of the new year have passed. And, by the way, this is the strongest decline to date.
How other currencies performed:
While the rise of the dollar is insignificant and does not particularly affect anything, the weakening of the ruble reduces the purchasing power of remittances from Russia, which remain an important source of income for many households.
