Dollarisation in Kyrgyzstan's banking sector continues to decline

Kyrgyzstan has seen a noticeable decline in the dollarisation of the banking sector, indicating growing confidence in the national currency.

According to the regulator, the dollarisation rate of the loan portfolio stood at 17.8% at the beginning of September. This is 2.2 percentage points lower than at the beginning of the year.

An even more significant decline occurred in the deposit base. The share of foreign currency deposits fell to 37.8%, decreasing by 5.1 percentage points over the same period.

At the same time, the banking sector is showing active growth. Thus, the deposit base reached 717.6 billion KGS, increasing by 21.1% since the beginning of the year, and the loan portfolio increased by 26.1% to 429.6 billion KGS.

The decline in dollarisation, coupled with growth in loans and deposits, indicates the strengthening role of the KGS in the economy.
