E-commerce in Kyrgyzstan is seeing growing demand for home and leisure goods

With the arrival of spring in Kyrgyzstan, consumer activity has picked up, which has been reflected in the structure of online sales. In March, users were more likely to purchase home, kitchen, and leisure goods, as well as appliances and food products. This is evidenced by data from the Wildberries marketplace.

The most significant growth was recorded in the home appliances and comfort goods segment. Sales of electric blankets increased fivefold, cheese makers fourfold, oil presses and electric curlers threefold, and multi-stylers nearly doubled. At the same time, demand for interior decor items rose: decorative hangings were purchased 5.4 times more often, scented wax melts 1.7 times more often, and photo frames 1.5 times more often.

The seasonal factor was also evident in the children’s segment. Parents purchased more products for active leisure. Demand for slides increased fivefold, boomerangs nearly threefold, sandboxes doubled, and related products more than doubled. Sales of board games and accessories increased.

In the beauty and personal care category, demand shifted toward basic and gift items. Cosmetic clay was purchased four times more often, shampoos more than doubled, eau de parfum doubled, and aftershave products nearly doubled.

Part of the demand was for work and hobby equipment. Laptop sales more than tripled, and SSD sales nearly tripled. Meanwhile, interest in 3D printers increased 15-fold, which may indicate the expansion of the home projects segment.

Growth was also noted in the kitchen appliances and equipment segment. Chocolate fountains were purchased nearly three times as often, samovars and kebab makers—twice as often. Fondue sets and sausage casings—4–5 times as often, milk frothers—three times as often, and burger presses—twice as often.

The most significant growth was recorded in the food category. Demand for cereal drinks increased 18-fold, for bee pollen 15-fold, for canned fish 13-fold, and for pearl barley 11-fold. Sales of olives, condensed milk, snacks, and staple foods—such as grains, coffee, and spices—have increased severalfold. At the same time, purchases of household goods have risen: kitchen cleaning products—by nearly three times, and melamine sponges—by nearly two times.
