The bonds have a three-year maturity and are listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange. The proceeds will be used to fund the construction of a border crossing and a railway line on the Kazakhstan-China border, as well as other projects in Kazakhstan involving Chinese companies and investors.
The EDB noted that the placement would enable it to broaden its investor base and attract additional funding in yuan. The issue took place as part of a new $3.5 billion medium-term bond programme.
