Opportunities for diversifying and deepening the dialogue on a wide range of economic issues were discussed at a meeting of the joint working group of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) and the Government of the Kingdom of Cambodia.

The event was held online under the co-chairmanship of the Minister of Integration and Macroeconomics of the EEC Eldar Alisherov and the State Secretary of the Ministry of Commerce of the Kingdom of Cambodia Tekret Kamrang.

The meeting discussed various aspects, such as trade, customs regulation, industry, agro-industrial complex, digital development, insurance and securities, competition, and consumer protection. Eldar Alisherov emphasized that the implementation of the memorandum of cooperation contributes to increasing the competitiveness of the economies of the EAEU and Cambodia, as well as removing information barriers.

According to the Minister, the current dynamics of trade and economic cooperation indicate significant potential for strengthening interaction and the possibility of diversifying the geography of cooperation. He noted the commitment of both parties to developing an industry dialogue within the competence of the EEC. Alisherov also emphasized the importance of involving representatives of the business circles of the EAEU and Cambodia in the dialogue and supporting the establishment of their direct contacts, suggesting that businesses consider organizing forums and exhibitions, including periods between meetings of the working group. The head of the EEC integration block invited partners from Cambodia to participate in the events of the Eurasian Economic Forum and join the EAEU-ASEAN business dialogue, which traditionally takes place within the framework of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.

State Secretary of the Ministry of Trade of Cambodia Tekret Kamrang expressed the readiness of the Cambodian side for an active dialogue with the EEC and supported the development of joint projects that will facilitate access for manufacturers from both sides to the markets of the EAEU and Cambodia. The meeting was attended by representatives of the relevant departments of the commission, official and business circles of the EAEU countries and Cambodia. The importance of strengthening the dialogue within the EAEU-ASEAN was emphasized, taking into account the increasing influence of integration associations on the regional economic architecture.
