03/25/2025, 09:01The Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission decided to extend the zero rate of import duty on latex for carpet production until December 31, 2027 inclusive.
The product under consideration is an aqueous dispersion, which is applied to the underside of a carpet and is used to give carpets a frame, resist bending, fix the pile and improve operational properties.
“The measure of customs-tariff regulation increases the availability of raw materials, as well as the profitability of enterprises producing carpets and carpet products from the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union, which allows creating conditions for increasing the share of domestic products in the domestic market,” said Vahagn Ghazaryan, Director of the EEC Department of Customs-Tariff and Non-Tariff Regulation.
He emphasized that the demand for latex for carpet production is currently satisfied exclusively by import supplies.
The decision comes into force after 30 calendar days from the date of its official publication and applies to legal relations arising from January 1, 2025.
We would like to add that with regard to the goods in question, the EEU CCT sets the rate of import customs duty at 5% of the customs value. In accordance with the decisions of the EEC Collegium of November 20, 2018 and January 11, 2022, zero duty was applied for latex for carpet production from December 23, 2018 to December 31, 2024.
