The EAEU has simplified the process of obtaining special permits for the transport of dangerous goods: how this will affect Kyrgyzstan

On March 10, 2026, the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission approved general approaches to harmonizing procedures for issuing special permits for the international transport of dangerous goods.

The new rules apply to road transport on roads included in the list of Eurasian transport corridors, which directly affects Kyrgyzstan's transit potential.

The document establishes uniform recommendations for all EAEU countries on the terms of issuance and validity of special permits: the issuance of permits should take no more than six working days, and the validity period should be up to one calendar year. It also defines standardized application forms and the information that must be provided.

For Kyrgyzstan, this decision is important in terms of simplifying procedures for local carriers, reducing bureaucratic barriers, and cutting costs for international freight transport. Arzybek Kozhoshev, Minister of Energy and Infrastructure of the EEC, noted that the harmonization of procedures will allow carriers to obtain permits faster and optimize transport and logistics processes.

As a result, for Kyrgyzstan, this is a step towards improving the efficiency of dangerous goods transit and improving integration into the Eurasian transport network.
