11/08/2024, 07:38On the previous day, 7 November, Abu Dhabi hosted negotiations between Alymbek Orozbekov, Head of the Secretariat of the Minister for Energy and Infrastructure of the Eurasian Economic Commission, and representatives of the Abu-Dhabi Ports Group (UAE). EEC Department of Transport and Infrastructure experts joined the online meeting.
During the talks, the parties discussed plans for further collaboration, continuing the dialogue started in 2022, when a memorandum of cooperation between the Commission and the UAE government was signed. As part of the discussion, they considered the possibility of signing a plan of joint activities for 2024-2026 designed to develop freight traffic and transport infrastructure with a special focus on the North-South international transport corridor.
Special attention was paid to digital solutions in logistics and transport, including the digital transport corridors' establishment and the introduction of electronic document management. The participants agreed to continue consultations to clarify all aspects of the partnership and the conditions for signing a plan of joint activities with Abu-Dhabi Ports Group, which opens up prospects for deepening interaction in the transport sector between the EAEU and the UAE.
