The EEC emphasised that, despite the principle of abolishing customs, transport and sanitary controls in mutual trade within the EAEU, member states retain the right to carry out separate control measures in cases provided for by union law.
The Commission separately emphasised that combating the illegal trafficking of goods is a priority for the entire union. According to the EEC, smuggling damages not only the economies of individual countries, but also the sustainability of integration processes as a whole.
In this regard, the EAEU is consistently introducing systemic control tools — navigation seals, traceability and product marking mechanisms, as well as measures to improve customs value control. These tools are designed to reduce the number of spot checks at the border and ensure the legal circulation of goods within the union.
The EEC emphasised that long-term stability in mutual trade between Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan is only possible if uniform rules are observed and shadow schemes that undermine trust between member states are abandoned.
