Kyrgyzstan's economy will maintain strong growth, but the pace will begin to slow — ADB

The Asian Development Bank forecasts that Kyrgyzstan’s economy will grow by 8.9% in 2026, remaining one of the most dynamic in the region, despite an expected slowdown following record growth in 2025.

According to the April issue of the “Asian Development Outlook 2026” report, GDP growth will slow from 11.1% in 2025 to 8.9% in 2026 and 8.4% in 2027. At the same time, inflation is expected to accelerate amid sustained domestic demand.

The key factors driving the slowdown will be a decline in activity in construction and trade. At the same time, the economy will continue to rely on domestic demand, which is supported by a steady inflow of remittances and investments under the National Development Program through 2030.

“Kyrgyzstan has every opportunity to maintain high growth rates in the medium term, aided by government investment and robust domestic demand,” noted ADB Country Director for Kyrgyzstan Zheng Wu.

At the same time, the bank emphasizes that to transition from quantitative growth to qualitative development, the country needs to more actively develop the private sector and deepen structural reforms. This involves measures aimed at attracting investment and improving the business climate.

The ADB stated that it will continue to support reforms aimed at long-term sustainable growth and improving living standards in Kyrgyzstan.
