The Presidential Fund has allocated 750,000 KGS for new microscopes for oncologists and pathologists

Four state-of-the-art microscopes, with a total value of 750,000 KGS, were purchased for the Republican Pathological Bureau and the National Center for Oncology and Hematology using funds from the Kyrgyz President’s Fund.

Three microscopes were transferred to the Republican Pathological Anatomy Bureau, and another one to the laboratory of the National Center for Oncology and Hematology, where morphological diagnosis of oncological diseases is conducted.

As noted by Valentina Pakhman, director of the Republican Pathological Anatomy Bureau, the new equipment will improve the quality of diagnostics and expand the capabilities of specialists.

“For a pathologist, a microscope is the primary working tool. The accuracy of the diagnosis depends directly on its quality. The better the optics, the more clearly the specialist can see the material being examined and the more confidently they can make a diagnosis,” she emphasized.

Each year, the bureau’s specialists examine up to 45,000 biopsy and surgical specimens received from medical institutions in Bishkek. It is the results of these examinations that help doctors confirm diagnoses and determine the course of further treatment for patients.

The new equipment is distinguished not only by its modern optical characteristics but also by its digital capabilities. The microscopes are equipped with photo and video cameras that allow images to be displayed on a computer, enabling the results of examinations to be saved and used for educational purposes.

According to Valentina Pakhman, the new technologies will open up additional opportunities for conducting remote consultations with specialists from other regions of Kyrgyzstan and foreign countries, as well as help create a digital archive of rare and complex clinical cases.

“Now we can display images during clinical-anatomical conferences, use them in the educational process, and conduct remote consultations. This is a major step forward for our department,” noted the bureau director.

The facility also emphasizes that the new equipment will improve working conditions for doctors. Specialists spend many hours a day working at microscopes, so the quality of the equipment affects not only the accuracy of diagnoses but also the preservation of healthcare workers’ eyesight.

The donated microscopes have already been installed and are in use.
