05/21/2026, 17:20The State Committee for National Security (GKNB) of Kyrgyzstan has announced the discovery of a corruption scheme during the renovation of the Regional Olympic Reserve School in the city of Manas. The loss to the state has been estimated at over 7.2 million KGS.
According to the security service, officials at the sports school colluded with contractors and embezzled part of the funds allocated from the President’s Fund for improving the facility’s infrastructure. The loss to the state was estimated at 7,288,597 KGS. This relates to repair and construction works and the construction of additional infrastructure.
A criminal case has been opened under the article on abuse of office. As part of the investigation, a technical supervision specialist with the initials K.K.M. has been detained. He has been placed in the temporary detention centre of the State Committee for National Security (GKNB).
The security service reported that the investigation is ongoing, and all individuals involved in the case are being identified.
