The heads of government of the EAEU member states met at Issyk-Kul

The heads of government of all the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union have arrived in Kyrgyzstan to take part in a meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council. The meeting is taking place at Issyk-Kul, according to the Kyrgyz Cabinet of Ministers.

Those attending the meeting include Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, Belarusian Prime Minister Alexander Turchin and Kazakh Prime Minister Olzhas Bektanov. Kyrgyzstan is represented by the Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Adylbek Kasymaliev.

Uzbekistan’s Prime Minister, Abdulla Aripov, has also arrived at Issyk-Kul as a representative of an observer country.

The Intergovernmental Council began its work on 6 August with a meeting of a select group of participants. The heads of government are discussing the development of the EAEU’s common market, food security, industrial cooperation, e-commerce and the removal of barriers between the member states of the Union.

In an expanded session, the parties are also considering the EAEU’s cooperation with observer states and other external partners. Following the meeting, a number of documents are due to be signed in the areas of trade, finance and science.
