The tax authority has simplified the process of closing a business and moved the re-registration of sole proprietorships online

The State Tax Service of Kyrgyzstan has simplified the procedures for deregistration from the tax registry upon business liquidation and expanded online re-registration options for individual entrepreneurs.

According to the State Tax Service, the changes have been made to the regulations governing the liquidation of taxpayers and are aimed at streamlining administrative procedures.

Now, when a sole proprietor ceases operations, the tax authority independently verifies the submitted financial statements and sends requests to commercial banks regarding the existence of accounts and transaction activity. If there are no outstanding taxes or other mandatory payments, the deregistration procedure is completed within 15 business days.

The process has also been simplified for legal entities. Upon receiving a notice of liquidation from the Ministry of Justice, the tax authority independently reviews the financial statements and requests the necessary information from banks. If there are no tax risks, the liquidation proceeds according to established procedures. If risks are identified, an on-site tax audit is scheduled.

The State Tax Service recommends that entrepreneurs check in advance for any tax arrears through the Taxpayer’s Account and, if necessary, submit liquidation reports to expedite the procedure.

In addition, the tax service reminded taxpayers about the online re-registration service for individual entrepreneurs. Through the Taxpayer’s Account, without visiting a tax office, you can change your contact information, types of activities, tax regime, and legal address—whether moving within the same district or to a different district.

The service operates around the clock; most applications are processed free of charge and promptly, and changes to your registration data are made automatically.
