The projects are being implemented as part of the National Development Programme up to 2030 and are aimed at strengthening the country’s energy system.
Funding is being provided by JSC ‘State Development Bank of the Kyrgyz Republic’ in coordination with the Ministry of Finance of the Kyrgyz Republic. The total installed capacity of the future facilities will be 148.3 MW, and annual electricity generation will be approximately 629.7 million kWh.
The implementation of these projects will cover approximately 16% of the country’s current electricity deficit and reduce dependence on external supplies. Furthermore, the development of domestic power generation will create new jobs, increase tax revenues and provide a boost to infrastructure development.
Particular attention is being paid to the environmental aspect: the projects involve renewable energy sources and contribute to reducing the carbon footprint, supporting the development of a ‘green’ economy.
The Ministry of Finance notes that the state development bank acts as a key operator for long-term financing, and the programme itself is aimed at ensuring Kyrgyzstan’s energy independence and sustainable economic growth.
