The project involves widening the road to six lanes, each 3.75 metres wide. Work is currently underway on the Almaty–Bishkek–Tashkent and Bishkek–Naryn–Torugart sections. A total of 537 workers and 243 pieces of construction machinery are involved in the project.
At this stage, the installation of the bridge deck slabs on the bridge over the Nooruz River has already been completed, and the supporting structures on the bridge over the canal have been installed. Preparations for levelling the road sub-base are underway in parallel.
Preparatory work is also continuing, including the clearing of roadside vegetation, site clearance and the removal of construction waste. To minimise disruption to motorists, pothole repairs are being carried out and culverts are being installed.
According to the Ministry of Transport and Communications, completion of the project will significantly improve transport logistics in the region and enhance road safety.
