IFC appoints new Vice-President for the Middle East and Central Asia

The International Finance Corporation (IFC) has announced the appointment of Imad N. Fahouri as Regional Vice-President for the Middle East and Central Asia. He will take up his post on 1 July 2026.

Fahouri will be based in Dubai and will oversee IFC’s operations in 21 countries across the region, home to around 700 million people. His remit will also include a project portfolio worth over $11 billion.

The IFC noted that one of his main tasks will be to support the private sector, attract investment and create jobs. Fahouri himself stated that the focus will be on economic growth, post-crisis recovery and addressing challenges in the areas of food, water, energy and finance.

Imad N. Fahouri is a Jordanian national with extensive experience in both the public and private sectors. Prior to his new appointment, he headed the IFC’s South Asia operations. He has been with the World Bank Group since 2019, where he also served as Global Director for Infrastructure Financing, PPPs and Guarantees.

Previously, Fahouri held a number of senior positions in the Jordanian government, including Minister of Planning and International Cooperation, Minister of Public Sector Development and Minister for Megaprojects.
