The racecourse in Cholpon-Ata is to be modernised using funds from the national budget

On 13 June, during a working visit to the Issyk-Kul region, Nurdán Oruntayev, Minister of Construction, Architecture and Housing and Communal Services, inspected the progress of the major refurbishment of the racecourse in the town of Cholpon-Ata.

As part of the project, which has been underway since 2026, the main parts of the facility are being refurbished. In particular, the major refurbishment covers the VIP area, guest facilities, stands, administrative offices, the basement and the car park. In addition, the tiling at the entrance is being replaced, and the utility networks are being completely upgraded.

Construction and installation work is currently proceeding in accordance with the approved schedule. The Minister paid particular attention to the quality of the work being carried out and the pace of construction, instructing that all work be completed within the set deadlines.
The project is funded from the republican budget, and the progress of the work is being monitored by the Ministry of Construction.

It is worth noting that the history of the racecourse in Cholpon-Ata dates back to the 1930s. In 2014, the facility was refurbished for the 1st World Nomad Games, and in 2018 it underwent a complete refurbishment. The equestrian complex has a capacity of 10,000 spectators.
