These changes are set forth in a resolution dated April 30, 2026, under which the Kyrgyz Ministry of Foreign Affairs had previously been temporarily assigned the authority to issue work permits to foreigners.
Now, if the permitted period of stay is exceeded:
In addition, an additional $1,100 will be charged for each subsequent year of overstay.
The amendments have been made to the government decree on consular fee rates.
The new measures are being introduced as part of a temporary procedure for regulating the stay of foreign citizens in Kyrgyzstan, which will remain in effect until December 31, 2026.
As a reminder, “Akchabar” previously reported that, under the same decree, the functions of processing and issuing work permits for foreign citizens were temporarily transferred to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan.
