The Cabinet of Ministers has instructed that Kyrgyzstan’s economic growth be linked to an improvement in citizens’ well-being

The Prime Minister and Head of the Presidential Administration, Adylbek Kasymaliev, has instructed that Kyrgyzstan’s economic growth be assessed not only on the basis of statistical indicators, but also in terms of its impact on employment and the standard of living of the population.

At a Cabinet meeting on 14 September, he reported that between January and August 2026, the country’s economy had grown by 11 per cent. GDP reached 1 trillion 397 billion KGS.

The highest growth rates were recorded in fixed capital investment and construction. Investment increased by 61.2 per cent, whilst construction rose by 61 per cent. Industrial production grew by 8.8 per cent, and agriculture by 6.4 per cent.

“It is important that economic growth is accompanied by the creation of new jobs and an improvement in citizens’ standard of living,” emphasised Kasymaliev.

Following an analysis of regional indicators, ministers have been instructed to identify areas and sectors that are still lagging behind and to step up efforts to develop them. Another objective identified is to ensure more balanced socio-economic development across the regions.
