03/18/2026, 13:35The Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan has amended the regulations governing the use of electrical installations – equipment that generates, transmits and distributes electricity, including transformers, power lines and distribution boards.
Previously, all electrical installations, regardless of voltage, were monitored by a state body. The new rules now divide responsibility as follows:
Electrical installations with a voltage of 1,000 volts and above remain under state control;
Electrical installations with a voltage below 1,000 volts are now monitored by a licensee — a company that has obtained the relevant licence.
The amendments cover the issuing of permits for connection and operation, as well as inspections of cables and temporary connections. The changes are designed to facilitate the work of small and medium-sized businesses, increase transparency and clarify responsibilities.
The document comes into force 10 days after its official publication.
