    What key documents have Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan signed?

    On July 8, as part of the state visit of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic, Sadyr Zhaparov, to the Republic of Tajikistan, a ceremony was held to sign and exchange bilateral documents covering key areas of interstate cooperation. The agreements were signed by Presidents Sadyr Zhaparov and Emomali Rahmon, as well as members of the governments of the two countries.

    Among the documents signed were:

    • Joint Statement by the Heads of State,
    • Agreement on Confidence-Building Measures,
    • Agreement on the Establishment of the Kyrgyz-Tajik Intergovernmental Council,
    • A number of sectoral agreements between the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Government of Tajikistan in the fields of geodesy, cartography, cadastre, standardization, metrology, tourism, and industry,
    • As well as memoranda of cooperation in the social sphere, environmental protection, civil service, television and radio broadcasting, and science.

    The parties approved a separate item on the Cooperation Program between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs for 2026–2027, the Action Plan in Industry and Technology for 2025–2026, and the Agreement on the Establishment of a Business Council between the Chambers of Commerce and Industry of the two countries, which will open new mechanisms for business contacts and the development of trade and economic ties. The signing of these documents underscores the readiness of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan to engage in sustainable dialogue and strengthen good-neighborly relations.
