Kyrgyzstan and China have agreed to speed up the implementation of grant-funded projects

Kyrgyzstan and China have agreed to hold regular working group meetings to speed up the implementation of joint grant-funded projects. This was announced following a meeting in Beijing between Erlist Akunbekov, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Water Resources, Agriculture and Processing Industry, and Chen Xiaodong, Chairman of the Chinese National Agency for International Development and Cooperation.

The parties discussed the implementation of the agreements reached by the Presidents of Kyrgyzstan and China, as well as the implementation of joint projects.

Akunbekov noted that during the recent meeting between Sadyr Japarov and Xi Jinping in Kyrgyzstan, more than 30 documents were signed in the trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres. According to him, it is now important to ensure their practical implementation at the level of the relevant ministries and departments.

Separately, the parties discussed projects funded by grants from the Chinese government. These cover agriculture, healthcare, transport and customs infrastructure, the supply of specialised equipment, and environmental protection.

A working group comprising representatives of government bodies from both countries had previously been set up to coordinate these projects.

Following the meeting, the parties agreed to hold regular working group meetings to coordinate their work and promptly resolve any issues arising during the implementation of the grant-funded projects.
