Kyrgyzstan and the Seychelles abolish visas for short stays

Kyrgyzstan and the Republic of Seychelles have agreed to mutually abolish visa requirements for short-term stays by their citizens. The agreement was signed on 4 May 2026 following a meeting between the two countries’ foreign ministers.

The document was signed during talks between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic, Jeenbek Kulubaev, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs and the Diaspora of the Republic of Seychelles, Barry For. The parties also discussed expanding cooperation in the trade, economic and humanitarian spheres.

The visa-free regime is intended to facilitate short-term travel for citizens of both countries. This may apply to tourist, business and private visits.

It is noted separately that the visit by the head of the Seychelles’ foreign ministry was the first in the history of bilateral relations. Against this backdrop, the agreement appears to be more of a starting point than the culmination of large-scale integration.

The agenda for the talks also included agriculture, tourism, education, digital governance and sustainable development issues. However, the key practical outcome of the meeting was the visa agreement, which opens a formal channel for the freer movement of citizens.
