Kyrgyzstan leads Central Asia in cryptocurrency adoption

President Sadyr Zhaparov said that Kyrgyzstan ranks 19th in the global cryptocurrency adoption index and is the clear leader in Central Asia. He made this statement on October 24 at a meeting of the National Council for the Development of Virtual Assets and Blockchain Technologies.

According to the head of state, digital transformation is becoming one of the key areas of global development. More and more countries are introducing central bank digital currencies, stablecoins, and tokens backed by real assets.

“The Kyrgyz Republic is one of the few countries in the region where a law on virtual assets has been adopted and a consistent state policy is being formed in this area. The number of licensed participants in the country is growing and the regulatory framework is strengthening,” the president noted.

He emphasized that participation in the work of the Council of International Experts, including Binance crypto ecosystem founder Changpeng Zhao, gives Kyrgyzstan access to the best regulatory and technological practices.

Sadyr Zhaparov added that improving digital and financial literacy, as well as training specialists in the field of artificial intelligence and blockchain technologies, remain important priorities.

The president expressed confidence that the combination of advantages — a flexible institutional environment, talented youth, clean energy, and active digitalization — will allow Kyrgyzstan to become a regional hub in the field of virtual assets and Web3 technologies.
