03/27/2026, 17:58President Sadyr Zhaparov announced the launch of domestic production of the national currency—the KGS—describing the day as historic for the country. The head of state shared the news on his Facebook page.
According to him, Kyrgyzstan had previously been forced to have its national currency printed abroad, incurring additional costs. Now the republic has reached a level that allows it to independently produce banknotes, as well as offer these services to other countries.
Sadyr Zhaparov emphasized that the country has already received an international certificate confirming that all currency production processes comply with established standards and requirements.
In addition to banknotes, Kyrgyzstan has established a high-quality system for issuing key government documents—passports, ID cards, driver’s licenses, and vehicle registration certificates.
“We are ready to print not only currency but also various government documents for other countries. We are currently already accepting orders from several countries,” the president wrote.
