Kyrgyzstan will completely eliminate its external debt by 2035 — Sadyr Zhaparov

In his address to citizens, Sadyr Zhaparov spoke about the dynamics of public debt repayment in recent years and stated that the country will fully settle its external obligations by 2035.

According to him, over the past six years, the volume of payments has increased significantly, reflecting the stable financial position of the state.

  • 2020 — 31 billion KGS paid;
  • 2021 — 30 billion KGS;
  • 2022 — 34 billion KGS;
  • 2023 — 53 billion KGS;
  • 2024 — 60 billion KGS;
  • 2025 — 79 billion KGS.

In total, 285.4 billion KGS (about $3.3 billion) will be allocated to repay the national debt between 2020 and 2025, of which:

  • external debt amounted to 170.5 billion KGS ($1.9 billion);
  • internal debt amounted to 114.9 billion KGS ($1.4 billion).

The president stressed that the country is moving towards complete freedom from external debt.

“Thus, we will completely get rid of accumulated external debts by 2035, without any particular difficulties,” said Sadyr Zhaparov.

According to him, this task will be possible thanks to sustainable economic growth, which, according to forecasts, will continue over the next 15-20 years.
