Kyrgyzstan to get its second major solar power station with support from the EDB

The Eurasian Development Bank has signed a loan agreement with Solar Systems for the construction of a 325 MW solar power station in Kyrgyzstan.

This was announced by Ruslan Dalenov, Deputy Chairman of the EDB’s Management Board.
Once the new facility is operational, the bank’s investment portfolio will include two major solar projects in the country with a combined capacity of around 625 MW. In addition to Solar Systems, the EDB is involved in the implementation of a project by Bishkek Solar.

According to Dalenov, the bank’s total investment portfolio in Kyrgyzstan has reached $464 million. This also includes the construction of the Kulanak hydroelectric power station, the modernisation of the Kant cement plant and the reconstruction of roads in Osh.

Furthermore, the bank is considering new projects in Kyrgyzstan worth between $400 million and $500 million. The EDB expects that, with the adoption of the new strategy, the volume of investment in the republic will continue to grow.
