01/26/2026, 17:38In 2025, Kyrgyzstan saw a sharp decline in its gross wheat harvest. The largest losses were in the Chui and Talas regions.
According to information from the National Statistics Committee, 490,500 tonnes of wheat were harvested in the country in 2025, which is 26.2% less than the previous year. Yields fell from 27.7 to 19.8 centners per hectare, despite a 3% increase in the area under cultivation.
The largest decline in gross harvest was recorded in the Chui region -47.5% and the Talas region -37.4%. A slight increase was recorded in the Naryn (3.55%), Issyk-Kul (2%) and Osh (0.09%) regions.
