Kyrgyzstan sold more than $1bn worth of gold

In 2024, the UK bought back more than 10 tonnes of Kyrgyz gold. According to statistics, the volume of gold supplies to the UK in 2024 amounted to $870.6 million in monetary terms. This is evidenced by the data of the National Statistical Committee.

The total volume of gold exports from Kyrgyzstan in 2024 amounted to 13.8 tonnes or $1.064 billion. The main volume of supplies is made to the UK, but other countries are also actively buying Kyrgyz gold. China purchased almost 2 tonnes of gold worth $129.4 million. Switzerland and the United Arab Emirates are also among the major buyers.

As for the average gold price, there is a noticeable increase in 2024. The average price for 1 tonne of gold in Kyrgyzstan this year was $5,786.7, which is significantly higher than in 2023, when the price was $4,853.1.

This price increase was a result of global market trends and increased demand for gold, which also impacted the country's export earnings.
